Let me ask anyone who has recently been assisted by a Member of County Assembly (MCAs) in his or her area. The job of an MCA has been rendered useless by Members of Parliaments (MPs) governors, senators and cabinet secretaries both in the national government and the county government.
They are not heard anymore and the only stories we hear from MCAs are squabbles, constant fighting and asking for more money. Kenya is cash strapped and any development being carried out is done using donor funding.
It is imperative for MCAs in Kenya to earn close to Sh100 million per month doing nothing. This in turn adds to the bloated wage bill and inconveniencing Kenyans to pay huge and expensive taxes.
There are more development projects which can be implemented using this money such as building more schools, hospitals and better infrastructure for Kenyans. It is high time Kenyans forged ahead by abolishing the posts of MCAs in Kenya.
