Dharwesh who was well as on Sunday December 13, and even did the 7pm news, died at Mater Hospital on Monday after he succumbed to diabetes that had earlier on in the day immobilised him at his South C home.
He was rushed to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
Known for his distinct introduction and an undisputed command of the Swahili language, Dharwesh was a favourite among TV viewers in the KTN Leo news bulletin.
“..... Ni furaha ilioje mpenzi mtazamaji tunapojiunga nawe papa hapa kwenye taarifa za KTN Leo wikendi...hujambo na Karibu...wanakwetu wananiita Ahmed Dharwesh..... Kwanza tupate vidokezo....” he was known to start his bulletin thus.
The news of his demise came as a great shock and has left the entire Standard Media Group and media fraternity reeling.

According to his brother Khamis Dharwesh, the anchor will be buried today (Tuesday) in Mombasa at the Kikowani cemetery. The body is expected to arrive at their Mtopanga home by 9:00am.
“My bro Ahmed Dharwesh will be buried in Mombasa on Tuesday 15th Dec at Kikowani baadal asr..prayers will be at Memon Masjid..The body will arrive in Mombasa at our Mtopanga home by 9:00am in shaa Allah..Innaa Lilaahi wa innaa Ileihi raajiun”
