Opposition leader Raila Odinga yesterday joined hundreds of Muslims in breaking of the fast celebrations or Iftar at Fort Jesus in Mombasa.
Raila joined the faithful ahead of Friday's Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month Ramadhan.
Dressed in white kanzus, the ODM leaders joined the Muslims and enjoyed delicacies.
Local leaders led by Senator Hassan Omar and Kwale Senator Boy Juma Boy piled pressure on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), claiming it was staging a process to mismanage the 2017 polls.
They claimed the national government and IEBC were frustrating registration of voters and issuance of identity cards (IDs) in CORD zones.

Promises galore as Ruto, Raila bid to strengthen union
Raila accused the national government of not doing enough to fight insecurity and corruption. He also accused the Government of mismanaging the economy and encouraging extra-judicial killings.
"Al Shabaab is having a free reign in Kenya because of corruption," Raila said and demanded reforms in the security sector. He claimed Jubilee had frustrated reforms in the security sector and also questioned the source of Deputy President William Ruto's wealth.
The former PM also criticised IEBC's strategic plan launched last week and claimed Jubilee was shielding IEBC officials from facing anti-corruption probe.
"We need to know the source of Ruto's money. He claims to be a philanthropist but we need to be told where the money he is giving in harambees is coming from," Raila said.
"IEBC has already embarked on a strategy to mismanage the next elections," said Senator Omar as Boy warned that "CORD is not afraid of battling Jubilee at the next polls but will not agree to the election with IEBC as constituted now."
Senator Omar accused the national government of mismanaging the war on corruption and insecurity in Kenya, and challenged President Kenyatta to combat marginalisation of the Coast.
He claimed that the State has allowed insecurity to fester in Mombasa and broken the law while trying to combat crime. He urged locals to register in large numbers to "nullify Jubilee's tyranny of numbers."
"We shall not go to the next polls with this IEBC," said Boy who said IEBC officials have been implicated in corruption in a UK court and cannot be trusted with the next polls.
