Many motorists were trapped in traffic gridlock after heavy rains that pounded the city on Monday evening rendered many roads impassable. Most roundabouts were flooded too.
Among the roundabouts mentioned to have been flooded are the T-Mall roundabout, Bunyala Road roundabout, Ojijo roundabout, City mortuary roundabout, Globe roundabout, Valley Road roundabout near Integrity Centre and Lusaka roundabout.
Some roads were also described as heavily flooded, including Mpaka road between 1st and 2nd Parklands avenue, and 4th Parklands Avenue outside Diamond Plaza and Sky Mall. The road between Madaraka and T-Mall roundabout was also totally submerged.
The river crossing between Rongai and Multi Media University was also reported to be almost bursting its banks.
Two cars reportedly stalled in the middle of the road near Madaraka roundabout.
