Kenya: President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have mourned Kabete MP George Muchai, his two bodyguards and driver, who were shot dead early Saturday morning.

The four were killed by an unknown assailant at the Kenyatta Avenue-Uhuru Highway roundabout in Nairobi at around 3am.

The president said investigations are under way to ensure those behind the heinous act are apprehended.

He termed his death a huge loss not only to his family and the people of Kabete Constituency, who he served with dedication, but to the entire nation.

“I am deeply shocked and saddened by the killing, in cold blood, of Kabete Member of Parliament, Hon. George Muchai, his two bodyguards and driver early this morning”, Uhuru said.

He described him as a humble and diligent gentleman, who was a true servant of the people.

Ruto on his part condoled with the families of Muchai and his aides saying he was saddened by the killings.

“I am saddened by the killing of Hon George Muchai and his aides. I expect police to swiftly bring those responsible to justice. My condolences to family, friends and the people of Kabete”, the Deputy President said.
