Home player Ehsani Mehraz emerged the overall winner of the final leg of the Standard County Golf Classic Series at the Muthaiga Golf Club on Saturday.

Mehraz, a handicap 19, returned a score of 42 stableford points to claim the overall title in the final round of the 10-round golf tournament.

Over 231 players took part in the event.

Mehraz sunk a couple of birdies, rolling in four easy pars coupled with three bogeys spread out on both nines to return an identical score of 21.

"I thought with my age, and lately muscle lapses, I could only be enjoying a round of golf and nothing much but after getting a great team whom I played with, my muscles charged up and decided to remember how to play well. That's what made me have a super round of golf finally winning this series," said Mehraz.

Men's winner was Anderson Matheka, a handicap five, who carded 22 points on the outward nine and 19 points on the inward nine for a total score of 41 points.

Handicap nine golfer Washington Akeyo settled for the men's runner-up prize with a score of 39 (20+19) with handicap six, Kavit Bhakoo, taking the third place with 38 points (16+22).

Mary Cox, playing off handicap 14, donned the Lady Winners medal on countback after returning a score of 32 points (12+20), as handicap 16, Rita Njeru was the runner-up with 32 (12+20) with handicap six, Florence Maina settling for Lady Third on a score of 32 (15+17).

Cox said getting past the second hole was the biggest challenge.

"It was the toughest hole because you have to get over the water. My first shot went inside the water but I was not discouraged at all," she said.

Amateur golfer handicap 16, Gurdit Bhachu, won the Junior's prize on a score of 35 (20+15), with Pastor G. N. Njugu taking the Gross prize with 75 points.

Nyali Golf Clubs' Dinesh Prakash playing off handicap 12, was the Guest winner returning a score of 40 (21+19) stable ford points, as handicap 12, Miano Githinji won the runner-up with a score of 36 (17+19) ahead of E. Rabongo 34 points (15+19).

Rakesh Rao 22 stable ford points and Ian Whitworth 22 took the 1 st and 2 nd nine prizes respectively. Handicap 28, R. Karina taking the Best Effort (Pinga Mingi) with a score of 18 point.

Mose Sammy of Standard Nyeri Bureau clinched the Staff prize beating Orlando Lyomu, Salim Bwika, Joseph Yego, Fred Kirui and Fredrick Okango.

Aman Mohindra took the longest drive men's title, S. Vuma won the longest drive for ladies, Isaac Otieno took the Nearest to Pin men's gong with Samira Furrer taking the women's prize.
