| Chemelil Sugar’s Meshack Karani (centre) battles for the ball with Top fry’s Arthur Weluya. |
Chemelil Sugar beat FKF Western zone Nationwide League side Homeboyz 1-0 at Chemelil Sports Complex on Saturday.
With Gotv Shield taking the centre stage over the weekend, Chemelil, used the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) break to stage the friendly.
Chemelil Sugar striker Meshack Karani was put through by mid-field maestro Hillary Eshesa following spadework by team mates only to squander a 20th minute scoring opportunity with only Homeboyz custodian Collins Oduor to beat between the posts.
Karani, who was in his element, pounced on the ball again in the 25th minute only to blast it wide with goalkeeper Oduor well beaten again.
In second half, Homeboyz coach Edward Manoah made frantic efforts to tear through the Chemelil midfield of Willice Ouma, Charles Odero and James Omino "Taller".
