Leopards seem to be regaining their footing and improvement will be expected at resumption of domestic action.

Bacause they had recently met and eliminated Ethiopian side Defence in the Confed Cup, AFC felt they would win their Nile Basin Cup quarter-final tie with the Ethiopians in Omdurman last night.

The Leopards’ outing here has injected enthusiasm for success outside the Kenyan borders. They miss four of their internationals who are in Harambee Stars camp.

Leopards’ head coach Pieter Hendrik de Jongh and his deputy Juma Abdalla are quite happy with the sojourn in Sudan and their aim, apart from achieving success here,  is to hit the road running once back in Nairobi to resuscitate the club’s flagging campaign in the KPL.

“The boys are playing very well and appear happy and dedicated. The systems are working and I expect we finish well and then carry on in the KPL,” said de Jongh.

Abdalla added: “The Head Coach has a target that we pick up at least seven points from our first three matches back in the KPL, but personally I think we are ok and my target will be nine.”

The confidence is significant, taking into consideration that Leopards first game back will be away to Gor Mahia on June 8 and the home matches with Western Stima and Bandari.
