Nairobi, Kenya: The National Land Commission has revoked title deeds for plots that were illegally allocated to individuals in Nairobi’s City Park.
Abigael Mbagaya, the commission’s deputy chair, said yesterday that title deeds to the land belonging to the public park were granted in an illegal manner.
“The commission has the power to repossess public land that was acquired illegally and this is just the start,” she said.
On July 10 this year, the commission said it would revoke 14 “illegal” title deeds to parcels of land belonging to the park.

Ms Mbagaya said that the owners of plots whose titles have been revoked have been invited to make submissions to help the commission establish how they acquired them.
“We are working closely with other government agencies to ensure that all public land that had been allocated illegally to private individuals is restored,” she added.
