Mombasa top KCPE boy does it again

Mombasa, Kenya: Lessons at the private Aga Khan High School in Mombasa were interrupted Monday afternoon after news broke out that it had produced two of the top 100 best candidates in last year’s KCSE examinations.

One of the top candidates had repeated a fete he performed four years ago when he was ranked the 19th best candidate in the 2010 KCPE exams.

Monday Abbas Naeem Essajee who was ranked number 20 out of the best 100 candidates in last year’s KCSE exams told The Standard for the last four years he has been keen to maintain or surpass the standard he set at the KCPE examination, a motivation that appears to have returned him onto the national limelight for the second time in four years.

Celebrations broke out sponteneously after the school’s Executive Principal Mariam Lavingia, who was following the results on television broke the news of Essajee’s and Clinton Michael’s performance to pupils. 

Abbas got a mean score of 86.831 while Clinton, who was ranked 74 nationally, had a mean score of 86.687.

Celebrations were also witnessed at Memon High School, which produced the national number 71 Nurani Zainab Mahmood. She got a mean score of 86.690.
