The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has not launched investigations into alleged corruption by governors and cabinet secretaries.
The commission’s Vice-Chairperson Irene Keino explained in a statment to newsrooms that claims that the commission was probing two cabinet secretaries for taking bribes and influencing of tender awards were false.
“The commission in the exercise of its mandate under law does not do so through the media as the said article insinuates or seeks to illustrate. The commission takes great exception to such reports, which only tend to mislead the public,” the statement read in part.
Ms Keino, who was reacting to reports in a section of the media, added that the reports were misleading and urged the media houses to seek clarification with the commission before publishing such reports in order to avoid misleading the public.
