Uasin Gishu, Kenya: Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago has sent parking attendants on compulsory leave for accumulating leave days numbering to over 120 each.
The governor claimed the attendants had been foregoing their leave so as to benefit from bribes they receive daily from motorists in Eldoret.
As a result, 15 National Youth Service personnel have replaced the attendants in parking maintenance.
The governor said since the officers took over, revenue collection in the town’s parking had increased by Sh500,000 per week.

“As a county, we have been losing a lot of money in the hands of unscrupulous employees that would have been meant for service provision,” said Mandago.
Following the revelations, the governor has vowed to crack down on all corrupt dealings that have been going on in the former Eldoret Municipality.
