Moyale, Kenya: Tension remains high in both Moyale and Sololo districts following highway blockage that has interrupted transport sector in the region for the last four days.
On Saturday, transport in and out of Moyale and Sololo was cut off and public service vehicles were parked at various stages after two lorries were looted and burnt down in Sololo by locals on Friday.
The incident happened a day after Turbi residents barricaded Marsabit-Moyale road and held hostage more than 800 passengers.
The hostage passengers were freed after county security officials visited the area.

Sololo District Commissioner Raphael Muiruri said the two lorries were vandalized, looted and set ablaze in Makutano and Walda trading centres.
He noted that youth and women confronted police that were unblocking the highway.
Muiruri said tension remains high as transport in the area is cut off.
He urged local leaders and elders to contain the matter and appealed to youth to clear the highway.
Moyale MP Roba Duba who was caught up in the fracas called on youth and women to clear the highway immediately since it’s a public utility.
