Laikipia, Kenya: Police in Laikipia West have gunned down two suspected poachers at Matigari area.
The two were shot at Ol Pajeta conservancy during a botched robbery incident.
Laikipia West OCPD Francio Nyamatari said an AK 47 rifle with four rounds of ammunition was recovered from them.
He said the poachers who were using a motorcycle tried to escape after they discovered that security officers were pursuing them before they were intercepted at Matigari area where a shootout ensued.

“We got information on their plans and that was when we deployed our officers on the ground to trace them.,” Nyamatari said.
He added that police from Rumuruti heard the gunshots and when they arrived at the scene of crime, they found the two suspects had already been gunned down.
He said that they were still trailing other suspects believed to be colluding with the poachers.
Their bodies were moved to Nyahururu District Hospital Mortuary.
