A court in Nyeri has quashed a decision by the Isiolo County Government to expel a Laikipia-based matatu Sacco.
The county had written to Nanyuki Express Cabs Sacco on March 18 this year, notifying it that its transport operating licence in Isiolo County had been suspended.
In the suspension letter, the county accused the Sacco of hiring goons who were harassing passengers.
Through lawyer Wahome Gikonyo, Nanyuki Express Cabs filed a petition in court arguing that it had been suspended without being given a chance to explain itself.
Mr Gikonyo said the suspension was a blatant violation of the Constitution since the petitioner had not been found guilty of violating the conditions of the operating licence or the Traffic Act.

In response, Isiolo County, in an affidavit filed by Osman Halake, said the dispute was a result of a complaint raised by the Isiolo-based Meiso Nissan Operators Sacco Ltd.
Meiso Sacco had complained before the county assembly and claimed that the Laikipia County Government had barred it from operating in Nanyuki town.
The Isiolo assembly, in turn, recommended that Nanyuki Express be barred from Isiolo.
