There was drama at the Kirinyaga County Funeral Parlour when four women showed up at the facility to collect the body of a 32-year-old boda boda rider for burial.
Attempts by the facility’s officials to calm the situation failed as the women engaged each other in a shouting match over who should bury the deceased.
The four, Susan Wakuthi, Jannet Wambui, Lydia Wanjiru and unnamed woman sustained injuries after a fight ensued among them as they argued over who was the bona fide wife of the deceased, Peter Mwangi.
It took the intervention of local police to separate the women as the hospital administration staff watched helplessly.

“We had to call in the police because the matter was spiraling out of hand as none of them wanted to listen to the other,” said one of the facility’s official.
It was until the late Mwangi’s relatives arrived at the scene when the hospital allowed the body to be collected.
“We could not hand over the body to any of them after the fight, but after family members of the deceased arrived, we allowed them to collect the body for burial,” said the hospital.
Local MCA, Harrison Ngiria, a relative to the deceased said the family will amicably settle the matter and that none of the women will be sidelined.
“He has sired children with each of these women and we will have to handle the matter with care,” said Ngiria.
