The county assembly has started the process of withdrawing from the national forum of members of county assemblies.
In a notice of motion tabled by Mwiyogo ward MCA Michael Karumba, the assembly cited failure by the County Assemblies Forum (CAF) to allow them to withdraw their colleague, Eric Wamumbi, from the forum.
Last year, 25 Nyeri MCAs wrote a letter seeking Mr Wamumbi’s removal from the organisation but CAF Chairperson Johnson Osoi turned down their request.
Wamumbi is the CAF Secretary General and was nominated to the organisation by Speaker John Kaguchia, annoying his colleagues, who argued that he was not elected by members.
Mr Karumba said Wamumbi’s nomination to the forum took place without the consensus of members of the assembly.
