“Just like China”, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria now wants Kenyans to embrace use of counterfeits goods.
In a video doing rounds on social media, Kuria says Kenya should produce counterfeit goods because that is how China’s manufacturing industry grew.
The legislator singled out Trade CS Peter Munya for frustrating efforts of Kenyans who import counterfeit products yet the government has not put up factories to manufacture the said goods locally.

“If you cannot show us a local factory that manufactures those goods, let our people import them from China,” he said.
Kuria added that China has grown over the years due to her prowess in making counterfeit products.
“I am encouraging counterfeiting of anything that is not made locally. Down the road we will learn to produce genuine stuff,” he said.
The MP asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack Munya because inspection of goods abroad before they are brought into the country has locked out youths from potential employment.
He added that despite having several Cabinet Secretaries from Mt Kenya region holding ‘good’ dockets, the region has not benefitted from the Presidency.
