Thika United coach Nicholas Muyoti has resigned from his post in the wake of poor results.
Muyoti yesterday said he made the decision to quit after realising it would be difficult to turn around the team’s fortunes.
“It has not been easy especially on the pitch and things have been made worse by the fact that the club has been struggling financially,” said Muyoti.
“This has made it impossible to pay salaries and with such a situation, it is not possible to motivate the players.”

Muyoti added that they had been having serious financial challenges since last year and despite promises by the club management to improve things, nothing positive has been forthcoming,” he said.
“The players have not been paid their allowances and salaries in the last two months. This makes it difficult for them to perform as expected.”
Thika United barely survived relegation last season, when they played in the play-offs against Ushuru to rescue their place in the top-flight league.
Nine points
The team is second-last after picking nine points and has won just one of their 13 matches so far.
They will need a miracle to survive relegation at the end of the season.
Muyoti took over as Thika United head coach last year, replacing James Nandwa, who was forced out due to poor results.
He also featured for the club as a player seven years ago and was at one time the AFC Leopards assistant coach.
