A gang raided a church in Malindi and stole Sh52,000 and assorted property.
Malindi OCPD David Kerina said the six thugs armed with an AK47 riffle and crude weapons gained entry into St Mary Catholic Church, Kijiwetanga, through a perimeter wall.
Mr Kerina said the thugs tied a guard before proceeding to the nun’s rooms where they broke doors, ambushed four nuns, demanding cash and valuables.

The OCPD said the gangsters later ransacked the nun’s rooms before they broke a grill at the main church building.
He said they stole four mobile phones, watches and other items valued at Sh50,000 before fleeing on foot.
Kerina said the thugs might have had information there had been a funds drive earlier in the day at the church.
Police said nobody was injured during the incident.
The OCPD said they were investigating the matter.
