The Kenya National Examinations Council will, for the first time, administer examinations for Sign Language starting next year.
Knec Chief Executive Officer Paul Wasanga said the move is aimed at providing a fair assessment to the hearing-impaired students.
Also to benefit from the new move are candidates who wish to develop a career in Sign Language.
Mr Wasanga, in a statement, issued, in a statement, common examination irregularities as collusion, impersonation, smuggling of materials, inflation of project marks, use of mobile phones as well as fake project scores.

Candidates found to have committed irregularities will be awarded grade Y and an overall result of Y.
Education PS Karega Mutahi said the number of examination monitors had been increased.
"The monitors will ensure that rules of examination administration are adhered to the letter by all those involved," said Prof Karega.
In Rongo District several tractors and motorbikes have been put on standby to help in the distribution of exam papers.
District Education Officer Albert Langat said this was due to the heavy rains pounding the area.
"We expect problems with the distribution of exam papers in some areas due to heavy rains that have rendered roads impassable," Mr Langat said.
