Embu County Director of Sports Patrick Njagi and his wife Daisy Nyaga have recently found themselves at each other's throats after the collapse of their 15-year marriage.

Njagi has filed a suit against his wife over a lorry she claims to have helped him buy through a bank loan.

Njagi is said to have been angered by his wife’s move of repossessing the motor vehicle, in a bid to offset the bank loan, which is said to have been outstanding for 10 years.

The former love birds have been embroiled in multiple civil suits as each seeks to outwit the other since November 2020.

Embu Senior Resident Magistrate Tony Kwambai deferred the hearing of the matter to January 19, 2021.

Through his lawyer Mugendi Karigi, the ex-husband has also opened contempt proceedings against the wife for allegedly failing to obey orders granted by the magistrate court and which she had challenged in an appeal at the Embu High court.

The magistrate court had called for the unconditional return of the motor vehicle and ordered Ms Nyaga to bear the costs of the application.

Embu high court judge Lucy Njuguna dismissed the appeal with costs to Ms Nyaga.

The taxation of the bill from the high court proceedings came up for ruling before Senior resident Magistrate Juliana Ndenge’ri who slashed the Sh217,000 demanded by Mr Njagi in costs to Sh21,733.

She has since successfully filed for a divorce against him for abandonment, gross negligence, and abuse at the Thika Law courts. A divorce absolute decree was issued in October 2021.

Thika Senior Resident Magistrate Oscar Wanyaga ruled that the marriage be dissolved after hearing the parties.

“The marriage between the petitioner and the respondent herein celebrated on 16th December, 2006 at Embu Catholic church is hereby dissolved. Each party shall bear its costs of the cause,” the court ruled.
