DPP Noordin Haji on Thursday warned the youth that they
might not win the fight against COVID-19 if they do not practice the guidelines
given by the Ministry of Health.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Haji referred to
'Utawezana' a song by Mejja and Femi One that has gone viral in recent
weeks.
Albeit on a light note, the DPP said the youth should adhere
to what the Ministry of Health has advised to avoid succumbing to the
virus.
"I just want to caution everyone to observe the rules
and especially the young people.
"I know there is this popular song by Okwonkwo going
round and I must say that hawatawezana na covid kama hawaoshi mkono," he
said.
Adding: "As much as we are talking about Okwonkwo,
let's make sure that he understands hatawezana na corona if he does not observe
the rules."
The song, which was released just a week ago, became an
instant hit and many Kenyans online took up several social media challenges
around it.
On Thursday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe stated that five more
people had tested positive for Coronavirus, bringing the number of positive
cases in the country to 184.
One more person succumbed to the virus in Mombasa and the CS
said his health deteriorated quickly and doctors found out he had died of
COVID-19 after the postmortem.
Earlier, Deputy President William Ruto assured the country
that he was closely working with the President in ensuring the country defeats
the pandemic.
While addressing the nation from his Karen residence, the DP
stated that he has been in constant communication with the Head of State and
all the ministers involved in fighting COVID-19.
He added that the Cabinet has adopted teleconferencing and
video conferencing as part of maintaining social distancing.
“We consult regularly…almost daily with the President and
all the other ministers involved in the management of this pandemic.
“The operations of government are a preserve of the people
in government…we took a decision that this being a national pandemic, all of us
are going to read from one script,” he said.
