A man has been charged with threatening a Nairobi businessman claiming that he would fix him at the Ethics and Anti-corruption commission (EACC).

Moses Odwar Osore is accused of extorting and threatening James Otieno Osori to remit some sales commission to his Bill Max insurance company as fast as possible to ‘be on safe side.’

The accused committed the offense on dates between in August 20 and 37, 2018.

According to the police, the accused who works together with other accomplices tried to extort money from Oyugi claiming that if he failed, they will report him to the EACC for being corrupt.

Luckily the complainant sensed something fishy with their operations and reported the matter to the police.

Investigations were launched leading to the arrest of the accused on May 24, 2019.

He however denied the charges before Makadara Senior Principal Magistrate Angelo Kithinji.

Osore said that he is a good business man admired by upcoming entrepreneurs and could not steal from the accused.

Speaking at Makadara court in Nairobi, he said that he is a man of integrity, of humble background and requested for lenient bond terms.

The magistrate released him on a cash bail of Sh50,000 or a bond of Sh100,000.

The case will be heard on September 9.
