Mr Esipisu also thanked the Queen for her enduring friendship with Kenya.

The Queen has a very personal relationship with Kenya.

In 1952, as Princess Elizabeth, Her Majesty visited Kenya at the start of a Commonwealth tour on behalf of her father, King George VI. It was at Sagan[a] Lodge, Kiganjo, that she learnt of her accession to the throne in 1952. pic.twitter.com/Rmz1nAd4qg — The Royal Family (@RoyalFamily) March 26, 2019

However, the meeting elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans; while some lauded him with congratulations, others, who are probably in the dark about royal etiquette and the attendant pomp and circumstance, took a dim view of his dress code, specifically the tailcoat.

Congratulations Balozi. Remember to market Kenyan teas, coffee, flowers and tourist attractions. Simply focus your diplomacy in commerce. — Moiro Omari (@momari877) March 26, 2019

Well done; but some African wear would have gone some distance to showcasing your heritage ama vipi — Mwangi J Mbogo (@MwangiJ3) March 26, 2019

Congratulations. You should have surprised them by showing up with a Traditional Maasai attire, complete with tyre sandals. — Mathenge Wahome® (@mathenge_wahome) March 27, 2019

Coattails (sic) to boot? Why not an African inspired attire befitting of who and what you represent rather than the symbolism and a colonial subject? — Josh Maiyo (@Josh_maiyo) March 27, 2019

The Queen also met with several other envoys and High Commissioners including, Aleksandra Joksimovic, Ambassador from the Republic of Serbia and Kim Beazley, Governor of Western Australia.
