The county government has completed drilling and pump testing of four boreholes in Banane ward, Wajir South.

The boreholes will serve hundreds of residents.

“They will provide locals with enough water and save them from the 50km treks in search of the precious commodity," said Yusuf Dayib, the county chief water officer.

Mr Dayib said the county government will drill 14 more boreholes before July. Residents rely on truck-delivered water.

Ali Suleiman, a resident, said the boreholes will help keep children in school.
