The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Keriako Tobiko on Saturday ordered Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet to investigate an assault incident involving Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Returning Officer Martin Malonza.

In a letter dated Saturday, October 28, DPP asked police to arrest and charge MP Wahome in court of law with relevant offences under Penal Code and Election Offence Act.

In a statement issued on Saturday, IEBC condemned the incidence terming it as an election offence by Wahome which needs to be punished.

“We take great exception at the manner in which MP Alice Wahome harassed an IEBC official performing his duties. Such is an electoral offence that needs to be punished,” read the IEBC statement.

Wahome confronted Malonza at Ng’araria Girls Secondary School tallying centre in Murang’a County over the repeat presidential poll results which she wanted to be allowed to view them.
