Stars coach assures of good results against Sierra Leone on Saturday.
Last week, Harambee Stars moved four places up in the Fifa rankings to 74th.
This remains their best position since 2008 when the country was ranked 68th. Sierra Leone, Kenya's opponents on Saturday during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, are ranked 113th.
Kenya's head coach Stanley Okumbi has, however, downplayed the difference in ranking between his side and their Saturday opponents, insisting it will count for nothing.
"We are not even looking at the rankings because it will not matter when we get on the pitch. What will make the difference is whether we are able to play well or not," he said.
Stars fly out to the West African nation on Thursday with Okumbi keen to start his 2019 campaign on a positive note.
Okumbi carries hopes of a country that last played in the tournament in 2004 when it was held in Tunisia, but the soft spoken coach insists he is not under pressure.
"There is the normal pressure that comes every time we take to the pitch, but off the pitch we are relaxed."
"We want to remain focused for the match and focus on other games as they come. We hope to have good results," he said.
The coach added that he is happy with the team's preparations, especially having worked with the local based players for a lonerg time.
"This was the first time we had players for such a long time and it has given us an opportunity to do a lot with them."
Okumbi called up 13 foreign-based players for the Sierra Leone match. Team captain Victor Wanyama leads the list.
Others are Aboud Omar, Michael Olunga, Ayub Timbe, David Ochieng, David Owino, Jesse Were, Eric Ouma, Eric Johanna, Antony Okumu, Johanna Omollo, Joseph Okumu and Brian Mandela.
