National Oil has cut the prices of cooking gas for its SupaGas brand. The reduction covers all segments of the firm’s cooking gas business including retail and commercial sales.

With the new prices, SupaGas refills for 3, 6 and 13 kilogramme cylinders will cost Sh510, Sh990 and Sh2,160, respectively, down from Sh570, Sh1,120, and Sh2,440.

National Oil Chief Executive Officer Sumayya Hassan-Athmani said the discounted prices are available to cash and SupaCard customers at National Oil petrol stations, supermarkets, appointed distributors and resellers countrywide.

”The price reduction is part of National Oil’s downstream marketing strategy to enhance the uptake of LPG in the country in line with the Government’s policy of promoting cooking gas as a cleaner and greener alternative to biomass sources of domestic energy,”said Sumayya.

In October 2014, National Oil commissioned its own cooking gas facility with a capacity to fill up to 5,000 cylinders per day. The oil marketer is in the process of setting up mini cooking gas filling facilities in Thika, Eldoret and Kisumu to meet the growing demand of cooking gas in these regions.

National Oil has a current tally of 99 service stations spread across the country and is developing new SupaGas distribution channels including supermarkets, distributorships and retail outlets to cover the entire country.
