East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism Cabinet Secretary Phyllis Kandie is leading a Kenyan team to meet key tourism sector players in the United States.
Mrs Kandie, who is accompanied by Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) Managing Director Muriithi Ndegwa, met tour operators and other stakeholders in New York to reassure them that Kenya is a safe destination.
“Kenya has received a strong endorsement as a tourism destination despite the various challenges experienced in some parts of the country in the recent past. The UN Secretary General has just given Kenya a clean bill of health as a safe tourist destination,” she said.
The Kenyan delegation includes staff from Kandie’s ministry, KTB and the private sector. It held various sessions, including one-on-one discussions on key issues of concern to the US stakeholders.
Kandie assured those present that the Government is addressing security concerns to ensure all tourists and Kenyans are safe.
During her visit the CS held discussions with the president and chief exeuctive officer of the United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA), Terry Dale. USTOA represents the top US tour operators.
