“Just wanted to make this video so that you can be assured that it is me and not someone else managing the account but I, Brenda Mwai so Karibuni tena,” she wrote.

Citizen TV news anchor Joey Muthegi, on the other hand, had to give up on her verified Instagram account with over 1 million followers after hackers demanded ransom.

Joy went ahead to start a new account and warned her followers from falling prey to deals offered by the hackers who stole her account.

“Hey friends, it appears my account has been compromised/hacked. Please do not agree to any seemingly lucrative deals on my behalf. I will open a new account soon. I hope you will follow me there. All the hugs,” she wrote.
