A photo doing rounds on social media alleged to be that of Tanzanian songbird Rose Muhando is raising questions as to the wellbeing of East Africa’s most recognizable faces in the gospel scene.

In the undated photo that SDE cannot independently verify, Muhando is a far shadow of her bubbly, energetic self.

Standing in a church pulpit, she looking emaciated as her bandaged hand held a microphone with her legs dotted with spots.

In a timeline that seems to tally with when the photo was taken, one Stephen Kasolo Kitole- a singer - claimed that she had visited him in Athi River.

“Mama Rose Muhando Has faced alot in life but my happiness is that she has never given up!!! She's a mother to me and I respect her so much . Rose Has changed many people's lives through her Music starting with me. Yesterday she Visited me in Athiriver where she said, "I will keep the fire burning till the day of the Lord!!” He posted.

Her tribulations worsened in June last year after the ‘Kiatu Kivue’ hit singer was arrested by Tanzanian authorities on suspicion of fraud.

It is claimed that she allegedly received Ksh37,000 (Tsh800,000) through the Chairman of AICT Singida church choir Mashala Japhet in order to grace an event organized by the church’s choir but failed to do so.

She had also received an additional Ksh6, 900 (Tsh150,000)as bus fare for an event held in Tanzania’s capital Dodoma where she did not show. The choir filed a complaint against Muhando with the police and she was arrested at her home in Ikungi area.

2016 was a difficult year for the musical giant who was admitted in hospital after being bitten by a snake in her compound in January.

“My sister (Rose) has been taken to hospital in Area C, after she was bitten by a snake at night as she entered the gates at her home. The snake that bit her was so huge which left her severely wounded,” her contact person told Global Publisher at the time

In early 2015 she had to come out to clear her name after blogs went into a frenzy that she had aborted a seventh month old pregnancy.

“I’m a mature God-fearing woman who is running a ministry. I cannot procure an abortion. However, there are things beyond us,” said Muhando.
