With her new BMG Empire release Nakuhitaji topping music charts, new soulful singer Wavinya has sounded a warning saying she plans to create change in the local music industry.
The singer, who features Nigerian dancehall singer Ketchup in the new song, says she is bold and talented, adding that most Kenyan female artistes have failed to make it as they are "scarecrows".
“It is not that we don’t have talented female artistes. The truth is that most of the female singers we have are scared of pushing the limits. They play too careful, too clean…too plain. They act timid. They are like scarecrows,” she said.
“There is nothing wrong with adding a little sexy touch and taking a little risk. That is what I did with the new video…I am here to change the status quo. I am here to entertain and not to play games,” she told Pulse.
