Speaking at the rally, Mr Odinga pointed an accusing finger at the police for using excessive force to quell the protests.

Odinga said that he had come to the area to mourn and remember those who died on Saturday.

“Nimekuja kusema pole…nataka tukae kimya kwa dakika moja tukumbuke wale waliouawa jana,” said the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader.

He appealed for calm and called on the residents to maintain peace as they explored other avenues to address their grievances.

NASA leaders are expected to announce their next move on Tuesday following the disputed outcome of the 2017 General Elections.

Raila Odinga is expected to tour Mathare, which also experienced violence later today.
