The ongoing Kenya Music Festival was disrupted for at least an hour yesterday when an iron sheet roof collapsed in the Indoor Arena. Luckily, no one was injured. St Theresa's Girls from Kisumu had just finished their performance when the roof caved in.
Scouts at the venue moved in quickly to clear the mess. A team of engineers inspected the roof after the arena was evacuated. After 30 minutes of a thorough check-up, the arena was declared safe for use.
The engineers blamed the collapse on sound equipment that was hanging from the roof. [PHOTO: GEORGE ORIDO/standard]
