The driver of a Range Rover that hit and killed a woman on Limuru-Nakuru highway has been arrested and would face charges soon.

Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet named the driver as Simon Maina Kuria. He was driving the Range Rover on Sunday evening in Manguo area when he collided with a salon car killing a female passenger identified as Mercy Njeri.

According to Boinnet, the salon car was driven by Martin Mbugwa.

“The wife of Nissan driver, who was a passenger, unfortunately succumbed to injuries and passed on. The Range Rover was inspected, and released. The driver will appear in the Limuru Senior Magistrates Court. He's on Sh20,000 cash bail,” said Boinnet.

He added the Range Rover was on General Dealers (KG) licence with valid insurance and was on test drive when the accident occurred.

This was contrary to claims that the Range Rover belonged to a popular evangelist. Residents of Limuru had claimed they say the evangelist at the scene of the accident. He was also present when the Range Rover was towed from Tigoni Police station on Monday.

The witnesses said the driver was driving on the opposite direction.
