An arrest warrant has been issued by a Ugandan court over the cancellation of Wizkid’s Ugandan concert.
The charges levelled against Wizkid include obtaining money by false pretense and cheating and conspiracy to defraud. Wizkid is accused of receiving $60,000, estimated at Sh6 million as performance fee for the concerts he just cancelled due to undisclosed health issues.
According to The Ugandan, the Nigerian artiste was supposed to perform at Lugogo Cricket Oval on December 3 but failed to show up for the event due to undisclosed health complications.
The singer had earlier announced the cancellation of all his concerts till 2017. Ugandan music channel, FaceTV, claims that Wizkid’s team had agreed to the initial deal, only to incur extra expenses for booking flights and other logistics which cost an estimated Sh3 million.
They are further accused of selling tickets to 25,000 people for a cancelled concert.
