Abdalla Taichi is a witchdoctor from Uganda. He says that he recently came to the country courtesy of a local politician during the elections.
"When I got here, I realized there are many Kenyans with problems and decided to stay longer.”
The mganga who specialises in matters of love, catching thieves, court cases, ‘men's problems’ says his vocation was chosen for him soon after his birth when it was decided that he would his grandfather’s apprentice.
"I spent time learning the trade at his feet for many years before launching my practice” he says.
He says that his fee varies according to individual problems. "Some problems do not require any medication but just advice," he says.
Taichi says that he sources his herbs from far and wide including Tanzania, the Congo as well as Arabia and Asia.
He also claims to be able to battle evil spirits with powers he had inherited from his grandfather.
