A man who allegedly sodomised a 10-year-old boy may have threatened him with a toy pistol and kitchen knife, a city court was told.
Matata Mtevu allegedly defiled the minor on April 20 in Industrial Area.
The boy told police he was playing with other children, but when he excused himself to go for a short call, a hooded man grabbed him from behind.
The police said the other children did not notice what was happening. The accused reportedly led the boy to a nearby thicket where he forcefully removed his trousers.

The accused then allegedly whipped out what looked like a toy pistol and warned him of dire consequences if he made any noise.
According to police, Matata sodomised the minor for more than 10 minutes and threatened to cut his throat if he reported the matter.
The court heard that when the accused was dressing to leave, the minor’s grandmother who was approaching the area spotted him, but he fled.
Matata denied the charges.
The case will be mentioned on May 14.
