Ledama Ole Kina

Narok senator Ledama Ole Kina has come under fire from Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organisation (MYWO) and a cross section of south rift leaders over his remarks against women from a certain community.

In a video doing rounds on social media, the senator is caught on camera spewing expletives such as “takataka” (rubbish) against the women in relation to their distress calls during the ethnic clashes that have rocked Narok and Nakuru counties.

Mary Cherotich, Kericho MYWO chairlady warned that women would strip naked and invoke a curse on the senator unless he unreservedly apologise for his “uncouth” utterances.

“We will demonstrate against the senator by striping naked and lay curse on him and also by extension his wife and daughters,” she said.

Ms Cherotich said the least they would have expected from a leader of Ole Kina’s status is for him to be measured in his comments, especially those touching on the character and physique of various communities living in Narok.

“We will not allow any man to abuse women. Ole Kina should understand that all women deserve respect including those from his own community,” she said.

Members of the Kericho and Bomet County Assembly called for the arrest of the senator.

Ole Kina has, however, claimed that the video was edited.
