Men and women give their views on cooking in being part of wife material

LUCAS MASASI - TANZANIAN

How can I live with a wife who does not cook for me? In Tanzania, a good wife is determined by the way she cooks. I wouldn't want to be judged because I have married a woman who cannot cook.

RISPAH MRUNDE - KENYAN

Marriage is God's plan. I would take the initiative to politely impart on my fiancee some culinary skills. When people love each other, things like cooking or doing house chores are secondary.

KHUZEIMA MOHSIN MAMUJEE – KENYAN/ASIAN

There is no way I can marry a woman who does not know how to cook because as a businessman, when I get home, I look forward to enjoying a tasty meal for nourishment as I plan out my engagements.

SALAT KHALIF - SOMALI

Among the Somali, It's mandatory for women to know how to cook. In fact, it's unthinkable to find one who can't cook. In addition to cooking, they must also be good in other domestic chores.

DAN DANTOZ SIBOLA - KENYAN

I can't marry a woman who doesn't know how how to cook because good food is the way to a man's heart. In fact, the lucky woman must ensure her skills in the kitchen are up to date.

PETER LEYLAND - ENGLAND

Personally, I am a chef and I like cooking a number of African dishes, including, matumbo, ngima, omena and mukimo, but I would like to share the cooking responsibilities with my fiancee when she comes back from Dubai where she works. Since I came to Kenya in 2008, I cook for myself, save for the times when my fiancee is around.
