Arguably one of the biggest Gospel stars in Kenya, James, Ngaita Ngigi a.k.a Jimmy Gait whose hit song “Muhadhara” propelled him to national fame is the first born in a family of four.

Born in Kiambu district, Lari division and Escarpment sub location in Kenya, Jimmy Gait’s life in the city was quite dramatic and its events motivated him to sing about how some wealthy lady wanted to get him in her “evil snares” under the pretence that she simply wanted him to perform at her event.

Soon after his “Muhadhara” hit went viral, perhaps thanks to the fact that many people could relate to its story line, Jimmy went ahead to do collaborations with other gospel artistes

Having been brought up in a Christian background, Jimmy attended Moffat Bible College, where he graduated with a High diploma in Bible and Theology.

His musical gift was put into practice early on when he participated in a lot of music competitions and occasionally sang alongside fellow youths.

Most recently, Jimmy flew down to South Africa for his “Makekes” collaboration alongside Papa Dennis and their video was shot by the renowned Clarence Peters who has worked alongside top African stars like P-Square.

Soon after Makekes he did a well choreographed video “Mzuka huu” which featured most of the current gospel stars. In the song, Jimmy appreciates all those artistes whose impressive works are putting the gospel industry ahead and his passion is evident in his works.

Besides music, Jimmy Gait started the “Make it or Make it” campaign which saw top industry players come through to motivate and encourage youngsters to be the best and push their limits because in this life one has to ‘make it’ by all means.

As it is, Jimmy has been a mentor to many upcoming gospel stars and still continues to proudly uphold the Kenyan gospel music. And besides starting the “Make it or Make it” campaigns he ultimately made it as our #mcm.
