The national women’s volleyball team Malkia strikers will be seeking to confirm their semifinals spot by defeating Burundi today (Thursday) at 3pm East African time in the ongoing women’s African Nations championship in Kigali, Rwanda.

Kenya defeated Tunisia 3-0 in straight sets of (25-20,25-19,25-21) on Wednesday to stamp their second place position in Group B with six points, three behind leaders Cameroon.

Two top teams from the two groups will qualify automatically to the semifinals where Kenya are most probably going to face hosts Rwanda who lead Group A.

However, to seal their semis spot, Kenya must defeat Burundi to be sure because DRC Congo who are third in the standings with three points have two games against Tunisia and Burundi. Also, Burundi have just three games in hand.

After a slow start to the volleyball games where Kenya lost to reigning champions Cameroon, the Malkia Strikers got back on track by flooring Democratic Republic of Congo 3-0 on Monday.

Kenya followed the victory with another drubbing of Tunisia which increased their chances of making the semifinals.
