Health CS Mutahi
Kagwe has instructed Kenyans visiting supermarkets to start wearing protective
masks.
Kagwe said it would
be prudent to avoid transmissions in such spaces since local transmission is on
the rise.
He further called
upon the youth to use their energy to fight Coronavirus in the country by practicing social distancing and avoiding unnecessary travel.
“If you travel
upcountry there is a possibility you are going to kill your parents and
grandparents.
“Be part of the
solution…we can overcome this,” said Kagwe.
The CS also told the
youth to organise sports teams and saccos into clean-up and campaign teams
against the virus and ensure that personal hygiene and social distancing
measures are adhered to.
“Let the football
teams and saccos organise themselves into clean-up teams and join security
forces and health workers in fighting the disease,” he remarked.
He challenged the
youth to seize the opportunity and fight the disease just like those who fought
for our independence.
On Saturday, Kagwe
announced that in the last 24 hours, 372 people had been tested and four were positive.
Among the four,
three are Kenyans and one is a Pakistan national.
Three were male and
one was female and their ages ranged between 34years and 44 years.
Kagwe also addressed
those in quarantine saying some might have their stay extended since their
contacts have tested positive for the virus.
He also expressed
displeasure after it emerged that some of those in quarantine have been holding
parties.
