The mutilated body of a commercial sex worker based in Nairobi was on Thursday, May 23, found at Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary after she was reported missing on Friday, May 17.
According to her colleagues, the 22-year-old Elizabeth Njoki had deep cuts on her body, marks of strangulation and her body swollen.
As reported by a local news publication blog, Njoki’s colleague, Carol Maina, says the deceased was picked by a client at Hurlingham area of Nairobi at 5 am and driven off in the client’s car.
Unfortunately, that was the last time they were seeing alive.
“Njoki, being a very talkative person, got us all worried when we did not hear from her for two days. We immediately suspected something wrong had happened to her,” said Maina.

She added: “We first went to her house in Satellite but did not find her. Then we lodged a report at Kilimani Police Station, before proceeding to several mortuaries, only to find her body at the KNH mortuary on Thursday,”
The death of Njoki has prompted a group of women from Nairobi’s Satellite area to demand justice lamenting that many girls have been murdered in the course of their work.
A report by the Kenya Sex Workers Alliance (KESWA) and Bar Hostess Empowerment and Support Programme indicate that 25 sex workers were killed in 2016 alone.
