My violent husband made me lose interest in men: Lesbian evangelist Jacinta Nzilani

Evangelist Jacinta Nzilani Kilonzo is no ordinary pastor. Unlike some of her colleagues who are married, divorced or single, Nzilani is a lesbian and does not shy away from the tag.

During an exclusive interview with SDV Untold, the mother of three revealed that she has never been attracted to men, and she realized this when she was just 16 years old.

Nzilani aspired to be a sister in the Catholic Church due to her background and even made efforts to join a convent when she was 18. She says her desire was to be close to women and of course the love of God.

However, during the first days, Nzilani says that she met a priest in Machakos County who asked her out and fondled her, something she was not comfortable with. She had to run away from the priest and thereby abandoning her sisterhood dreams.

When she came back, her mother lured her to get married to a young man whom she had seen severally coming to her home but had not made his intention known. Nzilani gave in and married the young man to whom they had three children.

During her marriage, Nzilani says her husband frustrated her and in some occasion assaulted her. Unfortunately her husband passed away in 2008. At the time, Nzilani was already in ministry but she said that most members of her church left after her husband's death and she had to start from scratch.

Nzilani says after going through a turbulent marriage, her interest for men withered and started developing a strong urge and attraction towards women. After sometime, Nzilani met her current partner who is also an evangelist and she says that she is mature and understands her.

Asked whether it is godly to have relations with a fellow woman, Nzilani boldly declared that it is right before God and went ahead to quote John 3:16 (For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life)

The bible speaks against homosexuality, (Leviticus 20:13) says If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. In response to this she says the bible speaks of God's unconditional love that encompasses both homosexual and heterosexual relationships.

Under Kenya's Penal Code, engaging in same-sex sexual activity, termed "carnal knowledge of a person against the order of nature," is characterized as an "unnatural offense" and is a felony punishable by up to fourteen years in prison.
