Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu
Owino on his Facebook page posted that there is no voting taking place today in
his constituency.
Babu Owino had previously urged National
Super Alliance (NASA), now National Resistance Movement supporters not to vote
on 26 October. During his speech in Kisii County, the Embakasi East MP told
supporters to ensure that no ballot papers and ballot boxes should enter the
polling stations.
A low voter turnout has been experienced nationwide especially in Mombasa, Migori, Homabay, Kibera, Kisumu, Kakamega and other NASA strongholds. According to reports, Kiambu County, a Jubilee stronghold, has experienced a lower turnout compared to August 8 election.
Speaking at Uhuru Park, Nairobi, on October 25, Raila Odinga urged his supporters not to vote and said that they will start National campaigns against the Jubilee government.
