So what happened to the millions of shillings Governor Mike Sonko talked of collecting immediately he assumed office? That is the question some Nairobi residents are asking after the county boss wrote to the National Treasury asking for Sh3.3 billion to pay salaries.

Mr Sonko is on record saying the county is broke. The remarks have made those following him on social media to fish out some of the posts he made when his administration started collecting huge revenues that made ex-governor Evans Kidero look bad.

One of posts was to the effect that service delivery would never stall because of lack of funds. But the county now cannot pay its workers, who are threatening to down their tools.
