MPs demand cover for their girlfriends and wives
Members of Parliament have demanded that their car grants, allowances and medical covers, which were taken away by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission be restored.
They are also against SRC Chairperson Sarah Serem – solidly demanding for the SRC to be withdrawn.
Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala led other MPs in pushing the demands, saying that their children, girlfriends and wives be given cover.
According to reports, only one wife could be covered and some Members of Parliament are not monogamous.

President Uhuru Kenyatta supported the SRC’s new initiative – but a meeting at the Intercontinental Hotel on 21st September 2017 had MPs go against SRC, asking for restoration of the grants, allowances and covers.
According to the SRC, Sh75, 000 is supposed to cover dental care, Sh10 million per family (inpatient cover) and Sh150, 000 covering childbearing cases.
It is important to note that this cover only caters for one wife/husband and a maximum of four kids, aged between 25 and below.
