Cheick Tiote dies aged 30 years old on 5th June 2017. The combative defensive midfielder collapsed while in training with his Chinese team Beijing Enterprises Group. He fainted while in training and was rushed to the hospital where he eventually succumbed.
The Ivory Coast international won 52 caps for his country and made 139 appearances for Newcastle United and also represented his country in the 2010 and 2014 world cup tournaments.
He joined the Chinese League One outfit in February after spending seven seasons with Newcastle United playing both in the premier league and the championship. He previously played for Belgium side Anderlecht and FC Twente of Netherlands.
He won the 2015 African Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast national team.
His agent Emanuele Palladino confirmed his client’s death in a statement and asked for the privacy of the players family to be respected. His wife Madah is expecting their third child together this week.
